Lammas, Lughnasadh Greetings Card

The festival of Lammas or Lughnasadh is celebrated on August 1st. It marks the midpoint between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox and traditionally associated with the first harvest of the year.
John Barleycorn represents the spirit of the grain, whose death and rebirth symbolise the cycle of the seasons, the promise of renewal and future harvests. Lammas is when offerings of the first harvest fruits are made to acknowledge gratitude to Mother Earth.
